Every month Miss Mustard Seed has a color of the month. Not to surprisingly the February color of the month is Apron Strings. It’s not too red, and not cotton candy pink, rather it reminds us of faded red, like you would have seen on grandma’s apron.
Or as Miss Mustard Seed herself said, “…in honor of Diane’s grandmother’s company apron. There were so many names I loved, but this one fit so well with the rest of the names in my line and those two words immediately evoke a feeling or memory. Neither of my grandma’s had aprons this color or even wore aprons, but I can imagine a grandmother mixing some biscuit dough or crimping a pie crust with beautiful coral apron strings hanging down the back of her skirt. It says, ‘vintage’, ‘homey’, ‘feminine’…all things that fit this color perfectly.”
I am dying to paint a great farm style kitchen table in this color, but have not found just the right table. Until I can get my mixer and paint brush out, let’s check out some great inspiration from the web.
While you’re dreaming of apron strings, check out this great tutorials on how to use wax from Miss Mustard Seed.
What will you use this gorgeous color on?
