Welcome back to our fourth installment of Finding Inspiration. This week we’re talking about magazines, another oldie but goodie.
We go shopping for magazines once a month, at least! There’s so many wonderful publications that are just filled to the brim with information. From styling, to color combos, or how to decorate a mantle, there’s always some little nugget we come away with after flipping through the pages of our favorite publications.
You can subscribe to your favorite and have inspiration sent to you doorstep, or do like we do, shop the magazine isle of the local grocery or book store. And keep your eye out, sometimes a magazine will publish a specialty publication. For instance, Better Homes & Gardens published an issue all about color in their Refresh seasonal publication which caught my eye, and I was not disappointed!
Sticking to decorating/style/home interior magazines will help to filter out the clutter. You won’t get recipes, or articles about the top 10 beauty steals this season. Just good old-fashioned inspiration. You’ll also get a good idea if it’s the right magazine for you just by scanning the cover. Headlines like “Keep your stuff, update your style” or “Colors combos you’ll love” usually deliver good results. Also look for tutorials. Many DIY/flea market magazines have excellent how-tos to guide you on your style journey.
Don’t want the clutter? See if your favorite magazines have e-editions, then you can view them on your tablet or computer. No more clipped pages strewn all over your desk!
Here are some of our favorite go-to magazines for inspiration:
