Meet Burgundy | Maine Country Home

If you follow the Annie Sloan world you already know about the newest color release: Burgundy. If not, you’re in for a treat!

We were so excited about this release, so when the boxes arrived in the store last week we already had a piece waiting to be painted.

This game table was the perfect candidate for the new color. We love how rich this color is, very saturated, just enough purple to make it different from Primer Red. It can be elegant if you want, or primitive if that’s more your speed. It’s so versatile, I can see it being used in many different homes with varying decor.

We dressed it up with some Efex™ Furniture Appliqués, SC 49 scrolls and a R72 circle rosette, painted in Cream Chalk Paint®. Just a hint of distressing made the pieces really pop!

But I digress…we’re talking about Burgundy here! Now for a surprise…

The table opens up, and had a hideous, canned mashed peas colored piece of leather in the middle. It was decided that it should be painted, quickly. But to make it extra special, we Dark Waxed the area where the leather was. There was a sweet embossed detail that would have been criminal not to highlight.

So there you have it! Burgundy, both with Clear Wax and Dark Wax. It’s fully stocked in our store, so where will you use this color in your home?
