Mustard Seed Yellow color profile - fall in love with this happy yellow

Mustard Seed Yellow – color profile

We’ve come to one of our favorite Milk Paint colors, Mustard Seed Yellow. Yes, we know we’ve said how much we love blues, but there’s always a special place in our hearts for a nice, happy yellow. And this color is the happiest, yellowest one by far! Take a gander at Mustard Seed Yellow:

Mustard Seed Yellow is warm and buttery. It’s bright without being too bold, the perfect “happy” yellow. Mix with Tricycle for varying shades of coral, or with any of the blues to make green. It pairs very well with Shutter Grey and Luckett’s Green.

Here we used this color to turn an outdated shelf into a piece with country charm.

Finish with Furniture Wax to keep the color bright and true, Antiquing Wax for a rustic look, or White Wax to soften the color.

We love using it over a darker wood so when the paint chips you have a rich, dark wood tone coming through. You know, in case you couldn’t tell from the inspiration pictures!

This color is at home in any style or decor. Country, traditional, modern (as an accent), coastal, Scandinavian, Bohemian…you name it!

Lighten it with Linen to make a softer pastel, or with Grain Sack to make a more muted yellow with greenish undertones like we did on the drawers of this dresser:
