A New Vision For 2018 | Maine Country Home

A Makers Market Place

Is it that time of the year again? For new years resolutions!

At Maine Country home we are banning those pesky resolutions that everyone breaks anyway. Instead, as we step into 2018, it is time to work on a new vision of who and what we are.

Hint – Maine Country Home is not just a paint store! Yes, we carry Annie Sloan Chalk Paint and Miss Mustard Seed Milk Paint, but honest, we’re so much more than a paint store.

With a new vision comes some clarity (I hope) and as I said, a fresh way of thinking. Over the year I have been struck by how hard it is to run a store where nothing comes from China. I mean really really hard! Even wondering to myself, why not carry some cute low-cost lines from THERE! I look at the catalogs where other stores shop, or at the big markets in Atlanta and New York. Fine for them but IT’S JUST NOT ME.

We opened MCH because we loved painting furniture and repurposing things. I just don’t want to go shopping with thousands of others. So instead we are on a hunt for other people just like us. Individuals who are makers.

It struck me that Maine Country Home is a Makers Market Place. As the year rolled to a close, I thought a lot about what it is to be “A Makers Market Place.”
