Painting the Garden | Maine Country Home

If you’re like me, you have a ton of terracotta pots just laying around the house.  I must have a metric ton of them sitting along the side of the house.  I love lots of plants and flowers in the house, even though I’ve never been very good at keeping them alive…

So I decided that if I was going to keep all these pots I had to do something with them.  Enter:

Annie Sloan Chalk Paint® & Miss Mustard Seed’s Milk Paint

Both of these paints are great for doing inside and outside projects, and best of all they need no finishing product, just paint!  I think they came out spectacular.

Chalk Paint® from left to right: Louis Blue under/Greek Blue over; Napoleonic Blue/Emperor’s Silk; Florence/Greek Blue.  I was in a blue mood I guess.

Milk Paint from left to right: Grain Sack/Trophy; Luckett’s Green/Dried Lavender; Eulalie’s Sky & Flow Blue/Grain Sack.

What are those adorable accents on the pots you ask?  Efex™ Decorative Latex Appliques of course!  They adhered very nicely to the clay, and painted up just as nice.  A fun way to jazz up boring clay pots.

They would look great on a deck railing, on the stairs leading to the front door, or inside on a windowsill.  Be creative as you want!  I’m leaving mine outside in the garden (that’s full of weeds…) to see how durable these paints and appliques really are in the elements.  It’s supposed to rain tomorrow, so I’ll keep you all updated!  I’ll give a full report in about a week.  If the news is good you’ll be seeing a lot more outdoor painted pieces!
