The store has been decorated for Christmas since the day before Thanksgiving, but some how the Maine Country Home guest house was not quite on that timeline. This weekend I found myself feeling like the cobbler’s children, so I got to work on our house.
I made two pillows from Annie Sloan’s French Hen fabric, one pillow with a french transfer, and decorated a basket with greens. When I went to take the picture of the pillows I thought something was missing.
What if there was a little red table sitting between the chairs? I had an old mahogany table sitting in the furniture barn, and that seemed like it would do the trick.
Using my ultra fast Annie Sloan paint brush, I whipped on two coats of Emperor’s Silk and this morning gave it a quick wax in Clear and Dark. I also added a little bit of Renaissance Gold Gilding Wax rubbed with a dark wax cloth to the cute little claw feet. Just to add a touch of glam.
Voila, Christmas in the guest house. But next year I will get to decorated for Christmas in the new, not so small house. And that will take a little longer than one day!
