The beginning of a new year is always a great time to reflect on the past year. 2013 was an amazing year. As my husband wrote in our Christmas newsletter, I left Wall Street for Maine street and so far have not looked back. Opening a store, become a dealer for both Annie Sloan Chalk Paint® and Miss Mustard Seed’s Milk Paint has been rewarding and a whole lot of fun. Lisa Bottero and the crew of the Nobleboro Antique Exchange have been the most supportive group anyone could ever hope for. A big thank you to all. The end of the year saw an increase in furniture sales, so I guess I need to get cracking painting more furniture!

Of course starting construction on a new house, and designing it as it is built, is both challenging and fun. In Maine we ended the year with a couple of snow storms and so the windows are finally going in today. Even though the snow storm was great for outdoor pictures, like the one below, hopefully we will have a break in the weather so the roofers can come back and finish getting the roof on.

Finally, the new year is here and as usual it is time for resolutions. My number one resolution for this year is to be a better blogger. Ok that’s easy to say but to make that resolution come true, you need a plan.

My plan is to blog more about everyday things, the house construction, repurposing ideas and even add a “how to” section to the blog. In addition, I need to take better photographs. So starting today, I am setting up the house for a photography shoot, and taking a photography class.

Looking forward to the new year and all the adventures it will bring.
