Here is a shocking statistic. Every year in the United States 8.5 million tons of furniture are thrown away! Wow, what a waste. Does the DIYer in you just cringe a little?
No matter what the style, new is not always better. You can find second-hand, well-made pieces just as easily as cheap, poorly-made, new furniture.
That is what we do at Maine Country Home. We search endlessly for high quality pieces that just need some love. Be they new, old, or somewhere in between, you better believe we’ll make ugly furniture beautiful!
Take this little desk. It started life as stark, modern, and black. It then became a fun boho chic piece that can serve many purposes. Desk (obviously), hall table, bar…you name it! Kristy painted this desk in Antibes Green and Florence. She then paired it with a vinyl chair painted with a custom mix of Chalk Paint® to make this gorgeous coral color. After such a long winter we were pining for a pop of color!
Let us step up on our soapbox…We can all cut down on the amount of waste in our environment by re-loving our furniture. Paint, refinish, or just redistribute existing furniture to another room. It’s easy to create a style that is uniquely your own by adding interesting pieces of furniture, a stylish color palette, and a few different finishes.
Come see some of our finds at Maine Country Home and learn how you can cut down on waste at the same time.
